The 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games put Brazil in the global spotlight. But years before, these mega-events had already begun to profoundly reshape the country. As part of a group project during my studies at the University of the Arts Bremen (HfK), I explored the urban and social transformations that unfolded in the lead-up to these events. In 2013, we traveled to Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, attended seminars at UERJ, conducted interviews, and documented key locations and affected individuals using an analog large-format camera.
